Who's Who in the behavior world?
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS)
Works under the direction of a BCBA who provides analytic services to identify the function of behavior, author behavior programming plans, oversees aspects of the behavior process, including supervision of RBTS and BHTS, and provides training and consultation. The LBS holds a state license often examined by the state board of medicine or counseling with a master’s degree in Behavior Science, Neurosciences, Education, Psychology, or a related field with some coursework in ABA.
Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Behavior Technician (BHT)
Works under the direction of a BCBA or LBS and implements interventions of the behavior program through direct instruction and transferring skills to the client, school staff, parent, or caretaker. The RBT is certified by the BACB as a paraprofessional after satisfying skills competencies and a rigorous assessment. The BHT also works under the direction of the BCBA; although, not yet certified by the Board.
